Loyd cooks up an art lecture at Ickworth
Loyd Grossman, better known as a cookery writer and cook-in sauce inventor, showed his other side as an art historian at Ickworth House last week.
He gave a presentation on the National Trust house’s painting ‘The Death of General Wolfe’ by Benjamin West on whom he has just written a book.
Pennsylvania-born West was a major artistic figure of the late 18th century, having produced more than 400 paintings, but his reputation began to fade soon after he died in 1820.
The painting hangs in Ickworth’s library.
