Lorry severely damages house in Brandon after driver suffers ‘possible medical episode’

A house in Brandon was seriously damaged yesterday after a lorry crashed through its front wall, putting the driver in hospital.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm yesterday in London Road, when the 7.5 tonne lorry came off the road and drove through the front garden of a property before crashing into the building.

It is believed the lorry driver may have suffered a ‘medical episode’ prior to the crash, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Police and a paramedic and ambulance crews from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust were at the scene. Fire crews from Thetford and Methwold were also in attendance.

The lorry driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with a superficial head injury. No one inside the house at the time was harmed.
