Lorry fire on A14 causes overnight disruption

A lorry fire on the A14 near Risby closed the road for over three hours last night (Thursday).

Police and fire crews were called at about 9.45pm to reports of a lorry on fire on the westbound A14 between Saxham and Higham.

The Eddie Stobart vehicle, carrying a non-hazardous load, was alight and smoking heavily. The road was closed at about 10:30pm while the fire cservice put it out.

Fire crews relocated the lorry to Ingham in the early hours of the morning and the road was reopened just after 2am.

It is not yet known how the fire started. The lorry was thought to have been carrying a number of dolls houses in boxes, which suffered fire damage.

Emergency services are waiting for the owner to claim the lorry, which suffered fire and water damage.
