A lorry driver who crashed into a listed house in Woolpit on Friday has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.

Neculai Slabu, 23, of no fixed abode, appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday March 5.

Mill Lane was closed through most of Friday after the lorry struck a house at the junction with The Street at around 9.20am.

Slabu, who pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, was given one day’s detention, three penalty points on his licence and was fined £60.

He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
