Lorry driver from Bury St Edmunds dies after collision with tree in Kennett

Police are appealing for witnesses after man from Bury St Edmunds died from his injuries following a collision in Kennett last week.

Colin Stephenson, 56, of Broadway Eastgate Street, Bury, was driving his blue Mazda 6 along Dane Hill Road at around 5.10am on Tuesday May 5 when it left the road and hit a tree.

Mr Stephenson, a lorry driver for Turners in Red Lodge, was on his way to work when the incident occurred.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and Mr Stephenson was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries, although at the time they were not thought to be life threatening.

He remained at the hospital until Sunday May 10 when he sadly passed away unexpectedly.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicle in the moments leading up to the incident to call the collision investigation unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
