Motorists experienced long delays today after a serious crash closed the A47 for more than three hours.

A motorcycle and a car were involved in a collision on the east-bound carriageway, between the A11 and A140 junctions, at around 9am.

The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance and the road remained closed until 12.20pm so he could be treated and to allow oil and debris to be cleared and the scene to be examined.

The closure resulted in long tailbacks and congestion and police have thanked motorists for their ‘cooperation and patience’ during the incident.

Anyone who believes they have information about the collision is asked to contact Norfolk Police on 101, quoting reference number 114 of August 8.
