Lock your sheds warn Suffolk Police after spate of thefts

Police are urging people to secure outbuildings after a number of thefts in the Stowmarket area, particularly in Elmswell and Old Newton.

Over the last month Suffolk Police have received several reports of thefts from sheds, garages and outbuildings with Items stolen including lawnmowers, fishing equipment, a bicycle, tools and an outboard motor.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents or the offenders to call Suffolk Police on 101 or 999 immediately if they suspect a crime may be in progress.

Residents are reminded to keep out-buildings securely locked, remove items of value from view, lock bicycles up even inside your out-buildings, clearly mark property such as lawn mowers with your postcode and house number and keep a record of serial numbers.

Police also suggest taking photos of your valuable items.
