MILDENHALL parish councillor Gerald Taylor-Balls will never forget the year he served as its chairman in 2001.
“9/11 completely changed the world.
“It was like watching a horror movie. It was unbelievable,” he said.
As chairman he was involved in sending messages of condolences on behalf of the council to Americans in this country and New York.
He sent the message: “The nest may be damaged but the eagle is still flying.”
Mr Taylor-Balls received thanks from the American Ambassador and the message was also included in a service of remembrance at RAF Mildenhall.
