Lifesavers need more volunteers

Have your say

A NEW group of lifesaving Community First Responders has been launched to cover some of the villages north of Bury St Edmunds.

Lark Valley Group covers an area which includes the Fornhams, Culford, Hengrave, Flempton and Lackford and volunteers have now completed their training and are attending incidents.

The group is the 59th in Suffolk to be set up under the scheme, which has been running for more than 10 years.

At present, the group has six members but would welcome more volunteers either as responders or in a supporting role.

The group has the basic equipment with which to operate, including a defibrillator, oxygen cylinder and first aid kit.

This has been bought thanks to the generosity of a local sponsor. However, another set of kit, including a defibrillator, is needed to allow the group to be more effective.

First Responders volunteer to respond to emergency calls on behalf of the East of England Ambulance Service and operate in the community in which they live or work. For details, email or telephone 01284 728894
