Library borrowers are going for gold

OLYMPIC medals will not the only golds to be handed out in 2012 – Norfolk County Council is dishing out 120 golden library cards for its most prolific borrowers.

The limited edition cards will be handed out as part of the council’s Join up January campaign.

In July, one adult and one child member at each of the council’s 47 libraries and 13 mobile libraries, who have borrowed more items than anyone else between January and June, will be awarded one of the golden cards.

In addition, one adult and one child deemed to be the biggest borrowers will be crowned ‘champion of champions’ with the adult winner receiving an ereader and the children’s winner receiving £30 of book vouchers.

Last year, more than 9,000 people joined or rejoined the library service in Norfolk in January.
