Leavers of Britain founder Lucy Harris takes part in flyering in Bury St Edmunds

Pro-Brexit group Leavers of West Suffolk were joined by prominent EU-sceptic Lucy Harris for a Bury St Edmunds flyering event.

Members handed out leaflets to town centre shoppers on Saturday (March 9) in the run-up to a crucial week of Parliamentary votes on if and how Britain leaves the European Union.

Suffolk-based Ms Harris set up moderate pressure group Leavers of Britain a year ago and added her voice to a local campaign for a ‘deal or no deal Brexit’ from March 29.

She said afterwards: “It was very positive and typical of the very many towns and cities around the country where leavers’ groups have set up.”

Leavers of West Suffolk members have also campaigned by emailing local MPs, following the 2016 referendum - in which a majority of St Edmundsbury voters elected to leave.

Constituency MP Jo Churchill campaigned for remain, but has since backed her Conservative colleague and Prime Minister Theresa May in her negotiations.
