Comedian Richard Whymark will switch on the lights at Stowmarket’s renowned Christmas Tree Festival tonight.

With more than 250 trees decorated by various groups and individuals across the town, the doors of Stowmarket Parish Church will open at 5.45pm.

The festival will last until Januray 4 with the church open each day from 10am to 4pm and until 7pm on Thursdays.

As well as trees with lights and decorations, there are also some unusual ideas including an optical illusion tree and mug tree.

Meanwhile, the Museum of East Anglian Life is holding its annual Christmas Craft Fayre today from 2.30pm to 8pm.

There will be a mini food market, Christmas trees on sale and Father Christmas will be visiting in his grotto awaiting wish lists.
