Organisers of Bury’s Got Talent are aiming to build on the success of last year’s inaugural contest to find the town’s rising stars.

The Theatre Royal Supporter’s Group are urging performers from all walks of life to sign up for the competition to be in with the chance of winning £1,000.

For its debut last year, the event raised £6,645 for the Theatre Royal with young guitarist Sam Chapman being crowned the winner.

Jacqui Laidler, of the Supporter’s Group, said: “It’s a great platform to perform and receive constructive critique from industry professionals.

“We welcome everyone from all genres of entertainment - it isn’t just singers, we would like to see bands, maybe a comedian and a little bit more variation would be great.”

Participants must be aged 10 and over and live within a 15 mile radius of the theatre.

The closing date is May 9 and they can apply through www.theatreroyal.org/programme-of-events

Entrants must create a video of their act to accompany their application. Heats are at Conservatoire East on June 28, 29 and 30 with the final at the theatre on July 10.
