A judge has ordered a psychiatric report on a young woman who was seen brandishing a knife in Bury St Edmunds.

Chloe Scott, 21, of Church Row, Bury, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday after pleading guilty to using threatening behaviour and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

In mitigation, Hugh Vass told the court Scott was a ‘troubled soul’ who needed support and help.

He said the incident had been a ‘cry for help’ and that, during the five weeks Scott had spent on remand in prison, staff had observed changes in her behaviour which indicated she was now better able to deal with stress.

Judge John Holt remanded Scott in custody until her sentencing hearing on Monday.
