Judges sought for Bury in Bloom’s Certificates of Merit

Organisers of Bury in Bloom are on the look out for volunteers to join the judging panel for one of the prestigious competition’s prizes.

The Certificates of Merit are awarded across all of Bury St Edmunds’ residential areas, with certificates are awarded where attractive planting - garden or container grown - is felt to enhance the street or surrounding area.

The volunteering judges work in teams of two to choose the winners. Each pair is allocated a specific area within the town to survey its residential and commercial properties’ gardens.

Last year 1,300 certificates were distributed anonymously by the judging teams.

Judging this year will take place between Monday, July 13 and Sunday, July 19. A pre-judging meeting is scheduled to take place at 3pm on Friday, June 26 in the Cathedral Lecture Room.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Elizabeth Clement at elizac@hotmail.co.uk or on 01284 765556.
