JUBILEE revellers can start to plan for the big weekend after Breckland Council revealed Thetford’s street party locations.
The council has received and funded 46 Diamond Jubilee party applications, set for June 2-5, to mark 60 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
Three of those applications are for events in Thetford, with party-goers set to sample everything from cream teas to sports-based events.
On June 3, Cloverfield Community Hall and car park will see buffet food, a bouncy castle and fancy dress on show. There are plans to send an invitation to every household on the estate, with time slots being allocated if the response is strong.
The following day sees the turn of Bury Road, where a street event centred around the sports and social club will take place. A best crown competition, face painting and bring-your-own food and drink will complete the day.
Finally, a cream tea for the elderly will be held at the Riversdale Centre on June 5. Free transport will be given from homes to the centre.
Cllr Lynda Turner, Breckland’s executive member for community, localism and environmental services, said: “We’ve had a huge response to our Jubilee grant offer, it seems Breckland residents are well and truly ready to get the flags and bunting and dust off their trestle tables.
“We are delighted to have been able to offer this support, which will give an extra boost to what promises to be a wonderful occasion – a celebration to remember.”
