A Great Barton man is all set to celebrate a special joint birthday tomorrow – with his beloved vintage car.

David Green, 59, will turn 60 on April 1 and so will his beloved Austin A35, which was first registered on April 1, 1957.

David, a barley procurement manager, has been a classic car enthusiast all his life and tracked down the 948cc vintage motor last October, to add to his collection.

“I have always wanted a car that was registered on my birthday and finally found one on eBay,” said David.

“A transporter brought it down from Aberystwyth in Wales and it was in a bit of a state, but I was delighted to have finally found one born on the same day as me.

“I have so far given it a retrim, some new chromework and a respray.

“We are planning to go out for a birthday drive together, even if it is only around the block.

“It still doesn’t drive too well but we are both looking forward to ageing gracefully.”
