Up to 80 jobs are to be created with the opening of a fast food restaurant near Mildenhall.

A McDonald’s restaurant is to be built near the Five Ways Roundabout on the A11 at Mildenhall and Barton Mills.

It is planned for the restaurant to open its doors for business on July 8.

A spokeswoman for McDonald’s said: “This will be a significant investment.

“The restaurant will feature one of McDonald’s new state-of-the-art designs and offer digital menu boards and tablet computers, on some of the restaurant tables.

“It will be one of the first McDonald’s in the area to offer customers the option of either using the traditional till services or new self-order kiosks where customers can browse through the menu and order at their leisure.”

Local franchisee Kenny Russell, who owns and operates nine restaurants in the area including the new restaurant, is currently looking to recruit up to 80 additional staff members for the new eaterie.

He said: “I’m keen to ensure steady investment in the area and I’m very pleased to be able to offer exciting employment opportunities through the creation of 80 jobs in the Mildenhall and Barton Mills area.

“Investing in the development of our staff is at the core of our business, ensuring our staff have a good learning ladder of opportunities ahead of them not only benefits their careers but also helps us deliver consistently high levels of customer service.”
