Joanne takes the 'leap of faith' and loses 10 stones with Slimming World
A Thetford mum has lost an impressive 10 stone after joining a Slimming World group.
Joanne Appleby, 36, initially joined the organisation online as she felt her weight was holding her back from playing in the park with her son, Noah.
Joanne said: “I’d always been quite a big girl, it had never bothered me until I had my son.
“I joined Slimming World to get better for him.”
Joanne now weighs just under 13 stone down from 23 stone in two and a half years.
She started Slimming World online to build up her confidence before eventually joining the group in Lakenheath.
“The nerves about walking through the door soon vanished as I was greeted with such warmth and friendliness, they made me feel at ease straight away, and I knew I had made the right decision,” Joanne said. “I was nervous about feeling hungry the first week but I soon realised just how much I could eat by food optimising correctly and I lost 8 pounds in my first week.”
Her friends and family have all supported her on her weight loss journey.
To anyone struggling to lose weight, she said: “Take that leap of faith and go to a group. I know people find it scary, but it really isn’t. You will be greeted with warmth, compassion and friendship.
“Everyone is there to do the same thing, we’re one big family.
“It changed my life.”
Since joining Slimming World and losing the weight, Joanne has also become more active and attends Zumba classes.
Joanne is also launching a brand new Slimming World group, where she will be a consultant on Saturday at the Charles Burrell Centre in Thetford. The class starts at 8.30am.
