Friday, April 26 – CHRISTINE TOBIN: (Hidden Rooms, Cambridge, 8pm, £16. Details: cambridgejazz.org) Presenting Sailing To Byzantium, her spine-chilling, award-winning settings of W. B. Yeats poetry, unique singer Christine Tobin accompanied by Kate Shortt (cello), Phil Robson (guitar), Liam Noble (piano) and Dave Whitford (double bass). BASIL HODGE QUARTET (Stoke By Nayland Hotel, 8pm, £16. Bookings: 01787 211865) Original Latin, blues and soulful jazz from this Fleece Jazz favourite, with Basil Hodge (piano), Tony Kofi (sax), Larry Bartley (bass) and Winston Clifford (drums).

Sunday, April 28 – TOMMASO STARACE: (Cherry Tree, Knowl Green, 8pm, £8. Details: jazz-nights.com). Superb Italian alto saxophonist playing standards and tracks from his fabulous tribute to Michel Petrucciani Simply Marvellous! With Simon Brown (piano), Bern Hodgkins (bass) and Roger Odell (drums) and an opening set from singer Larraine Odell and a sitters-in slot. DEADLY POPADOMS (The Fox, Bury, 7.15pm, free) New band for The Fox specialising in funk, soul and groove-based jazz, featuring guitarist Chris Newman with Art Toper (keyboard) and Ian Croft (drums). ANDY BOWIE (Tram Shed, Cambridge, 8.30pm, free) Tenor saxophone-playing philosophy professor and the Ryan McCaffrey Trio present a connoisseur’s choice from the modern jazz repertoire, resident at a new venue.

Monday, April 29 – JAZZ JAM: (The Cottage, Silver Road, Norwich, 8pm, free. Enquiries: brendan@jazzjam.org.uk) Established and friendly jam session led by bassist Brendan Youngs and guitarist Lee Vasey.

Tuesday, April 30 – JAMIE O’DONNELL: (The Cottage, Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich, 8.30pm, £10. Info: macjazznorwich@gmail.com) Cannonball Adderley-influenced alto saxophonist joins Simon Brown (piano), Ivars Galenieks (bass) and Brian McAllister (drums) with an evening of standards and originals.

Wednesday, May 1 – DIXIE STROLLERS: (Lakeside, Lyng, 8pm, £10. Bookings 01328 863511) A rare and uplifting example of young musicians still at music college taking the traditional jazz route; featuring James Davison (trumpet), Sam Rapley (clarinet), Tom Green (trombone), Sam Watts (piano), Will Arnold-Foster (guitar), Pete Hutchison (bass) and Scott Chapman (drums).

Thursday, May 2 – SOLE BAY JAZZ BAND: (Maltings Pavilion, Ditchingham, 8pm, free. Info: 01986 896143) Residency for established and popular Dixieland band, featuring Ray Simmons (trumpet), Tim Densham (clarinet/sax), Ron Hockett (clarinet/saxophone), Alan Cugnoni (banjo/guitar), Tony Jullings (bass) and Craig Hipperson (drums).

Friday, May 3 – TERRY SEABROOK QUINTET: (Stoke By Nayland Hotel, 8pm, £16. Bookings: 01787 211865) Leader of Cubana Bop and Milestones brings his own quintet to Fleece Jazz focussing on his original compositions; with Terry Seabrook (piano), Graeme Flowers (trumpet), Ian Price (sax), Steve Watts (bass) and Chris Nickolls (drums).
