STUDENTS from Takamatsu Dai-ichi Senior High School, Japan, visited County Upper School, Bury, to take part in science week celebrations.
The visit coincided with the first anniversary of the Japanese tsunami and to mark the date students from the two schools learnt about the latest breakthroughs in renewable energy sources.
Headteacher Vicky Neale said: “ It was a real honour to be chosen as the top English Science College to host this visit and the team of interpreters ensured the two sets of students could work together for two days on some very current practical work.
“It was very poignant on the anniversary of the Tsunami and we were specially asked to base it around non-nuclear energy technologies.
“As well as learning some advanced science, both sets of students benefited from the social and cultural aspects and it was a fantastic experience for them all.”
