JACK the jackdaw has been causing a flap among visitors to Lakenheath Fen – by hitching a ride on their heads and shoulders.
The friendly, young, bird has developed the habit of greeting new arrivals to the popular attraction by landing on their heads and shoulders.
David White, information officer at Lakenheath Fen, said: “My first experience of Jack was a couple of weeks ago when he came and flew on my shoulder, he took a great interest in my hat and was very reluctant to leave his newly found perch.
“He eventually tired of my shoulder and flew off but not before leaving a very distinct white and creamy calling card.”
Jack the jackdaw, who has piercing blue eyes, is not the first of his species to have become a little too comfortable with humans – until recently, jackdaws were often kept as amusing and talkative pets.
