Four Ixworth pupils have been crowned regional champions after winning the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Team Maths Challenge regional final.

Ixworth Free School students Kim Goss, Lizzie Bolton, Lily Curie and Lucas Measures defeated 18 other teams in the Suffolk and Norfolk regional final, held in Swaffham last month.

The team will now be heading to the national finals of the competition in London on June 20.

Out of 1,700 schools nationally, Ixworth was one of 70 to qualify for the national finals.

Headteacher Niki King said: “We are all so proud of the team for winning the regional Team Maths Challenge against some tough competitors. The team have a real talent in maths and we’re delighted this has been recognised. We wish them all the best for the national finals in the summer.”
