Ixworth Pharmacy has been recognised for its efforts in helping people in the village to quit smoking.

Staff from the Peddars Close pharmacy gathered at Ipswich Town Football Club last Thursday for this year’s Stop Smoking Awards, hosted by Live Well Suffolk, the county’s free healthy lifestyles service.

The team won the award for ‘most quitters’ in the Independent Pharmacy category after helping 182 residents kick the habit.

Lesley Tucker, of the pharmacy, said: “It is special to be recognised and know that we’re doing a good job. This is the fourth year we’ve won and we hope this award will encourage the newer members of our team to carry on the good work going forward.”

Henry Tapp, of Live Well Suffolk, said: “We’d like to congratulate the team from Ixworth Pharmacy for their achievements in helping people to take the first steps towards a healthier future. Helping so many local residents to improve their health by quitting smoking is something they should be very proud of.”

As well as supporting pharmacies and GP surgeries to deliver stop smoking services, Live Well Suffolk runs group therapy, one-to-one sessions and programmes to support pregnant mums-to-be who want to give up.
