Ixworth firefighters armed themselves with buckets and sponges for a charity car wash last Saturday.

From 10am-2pm, motorists were able to visit the fire station in The Street, Ixworth, and get their vehicles cleaned in return for making a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity, which provides pioneering treatment and support services to serving and retired firefighters and their families, costs around £8 million each year to run and receives no government funding.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service is hosting its popular annual cycle sportive in aid of the charity on July 5.

Cyclists can choose from a 30, 60 or 100 mile route, with all starting and ending at Eye Fire Station.
