Fire crews from Wickhambrook, Bury St Edmunds, Elmswell and Ixworth were called to the fire at just after 11pm last night (September 7).

A straw stack, consisting of around 500 to 750 tones of baled straw had caught alight and fire crews tackled the blaze throughout the early hours of this morning.

The farmer of the field assisted the crews by creating a fire break around the stack using his cultivator to help contain the fire.

Currently, the area is being checked by one crew to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
