It’s all at the co-op for Woolpit’s Post Office

Woolpit Post Office will move to the village’s East of England Co-op next month.

The existing Post Office in The Street will close at 12.30pm on Saturday March 14 and the new open-plan branch will open a few doors away in the co-op at 1pm on March 16.

It will have two tills and be open during the store’s opening hours, which are Monday to Saturday 6am to 9pm and Sunday 8am to 4pm, which give the village 52 hours a week more Post Office service than it has now.

The Post Office says that between March 14 and 16, the nearest branch will be at Elmswell.

Post Office regional manager Will Russell said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Woolpit and we are confident this new Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
