An eighty-nine-year-old woman who fell and broke her thigh at home, died on the operating table at West Suffolk Hospital an inquest heard.
Una Wickett, of Rymer Point Park, Barnham, was admitted to the hospital in February after the fall in her garden.
Dr Paul Nicolai, a consultant at the hospital, said she had a displaced fracture and was advised she would need surgery.
Dr Karl Love said a post mortem examination revealed she had bone marrow emboli from the break that would have contributed to her death.
She had previously suffered a stoke, had high blood pressure and other medical conditions.
Coroner Dr Peter Dean, at her inquest in Bury St Edmunds on Thursday (13) recorded a narrative verdict that she died from the combined effects of pre-existing medical disease and complications following a fall in which she fractured her femur.
