Suffolk Walking Festival launches at West Stow Country Park
Suffolk Walking Festival organisers are hoping this year’s edition will be the best yet, after a successful launch.
The twelfth annual event began with a walk at West Stow Country Park on Saturday (May 11) which attracted 120 people.
It kicks off the series of more than 100 group walks, which will be held all around the county until June 2.
The festival also includes art and photography workshops, storytelling and a night safari.
It is organised in part by Suffolk County Council as an initiative for residents to take exercise and enjoy the country.
Councillor Mary Evans said: “It was great to see such a good turnout for the launch of the Suffolk Walking Festival on Saturday.
“The festival has always proved very popular and now heading into its twelfth year, it has firmly established itself as one of Britain’s premier walking festivals.
“I am thrilled to see such a wide range of walks and events in this year’s festival. There is something for everyone to enjoy so I would like to encourage as many people as possible to take part, get active and enjoy the beautiful countryside."
