A West Suffolk man says he managed to ‘gate crash’ the celebrity wedding of the year between Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan .

They enjoyed a free cocktail at the bar and rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent before they were ‘rumbled’ 40 minutes later and asked to leave.

Mr Wright and Ms Keegan, who are best known for starring in the Only Way is Essex and Coronation Street respectively, were married at St Mary’s Church, in Bury on Sunday with guests staying at The Angel Hotel. Crowds lined the streets in Bury to catch a glimpse of the happy couple. Their 200 guests were taken to Hengrave by coaches provided by Jans of Soham.

Mr Hartnoll, of Hengrave, says after getting into the reception he spoke with Elliott Wright, Leah Wright and Brooke Vincent before he was asked to leave. “They said ‘your name’s just not on the list so we’re going to have to let you go’ so they booked us a taxi and we went.”

He added: “I’ve never been to a wedding like that. It was extravagant. The marquee was decked out in pure white.”

Cllr Jo Rayner, cabinet member for leisure and culture at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said the wedding was a real boost for the town. She said: “It was amazing to see Bury buzzing over the weekend, not least because of the wedding. The wonderful St Mary’s Church and the delights of our beautiful town again proved more than enough to draw the stars.”
