Marching bands, dancers, colourful floats and even a tank joined Stowmarket’s spectacular carnival procession at the weekend.
Hundreds of people lined the parade route on Saturday to cheer on the procession on its way to the town’s Recreation Ground.
When it got there, Saturday’s crowds were treated a fun fair, a variety of stalls, an arena with dancers and theatre and a stage featuring live music.
On Sunday the recreation ground hosted the return of the popular dog show and car show.
Jayne Woods, who organises the procession, said it was great to get some good weather this year.
“It was a lovely day and the weather really made a difference,” she said.
“There just seemed to be lots and lots of people. Everyone I have spoken to has said they really enjoyed it.
“We did have a couple of stops in procession but with the weather being so hot people were eager to have a break.”
Despite the carnival being a big success, and one of the town’s most popular events, its future is in doubt.
Jayne said the carnival committee could do with more members and that they are desperate for more volunteers to help. The committee are holding an AGM in September and hope to recruit more members.
