Huge crowds at Stowupland’s Music on the Green event
More than 2,000 people enjoyed a day of superb live music at Stowupland’s Music on the Green event at the weekend.
A top roster of local bands, including Renegade Twelve, Sun of Elvis, Connor Ryan Adams, Hot Tramp, Barney Holmes and Walkway rocked the stage on the village green on Saturday.
The event was organised to raise money for Trust Maria, a charity which provides specialist equipment to hospices set up by Harvey McSloy in memory of his mum Maria, who passed away in July 2013 aged 49.
Harvey and his friends at Company ‘87 events took over the running of he event this year from the Parish Council.
“We think there were around 2,000 people come along during the day, maybe more,” said Harvey.
“We weren’t able to get an exact count of people through the door but looking at the numbers on the green it was around that number.
“We weren’t expecting that many people to turn up.
“Armed Forces Day was on Saturday so we expected competition from that.
“The event went really well – until it rained.
“But as soon as the sun came back out everyone came back for the final few bands.”
