Bury St Edmunds arc shopping centre to reward those who have gone extra mile during coronavirus crisis

The arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds is to reward members of the community who have gone the extra mile during the coronavirus crisis.

It will hand out a gift to a 'special local person' every Thursday, until September, including vouchers, free lunch tokens or a day out with all expenses paid.

The Thanks'Day initiative will recognise key workers, parent teachers and volunteers.

Sam Parker, centre administrator, said: “We are so proud to see how the Bury St. Edmunds community has pulled together throughout this strange and uncertain time.

"We want to say thank you by treating a member of our community every Thursday.

"Whether it’s an individual who has been working hard as a key worker, a parent who has turned into a teacher or an individual who has taken their time to volunteer or raise money for a charity, we want to hear about them."
