Bury Open Britain challenge Jo Churchill to back people's vote




Campaigners for a second referendum on Britain's EU membership are planning ten 'action days' around west Suffolk.

Bury Open Britain say their research has shown local opinion now favours a people's vote.

Their campaign seeks to influence MP Jo Churchill and now features a focus on the European Union elections.

Christina Birt, group leader, said the ten day campaign would be held over three weeks, taking in Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Needham Market and surrounding villages. She said: "The focus is the same as before, primarily to raise the profile of the people's vote.

Saturday, April 27, in Moreton Hall from 2pm

Sunday, April 28, in Stowmarket from 2pm

Monday, April 29, outside West Suffolk College from 8am

Tuesday, April 30, outside West Suffolk College from 8am

Wednesday, May 1, around Bury St Edmunds from 5pm

Friday, May 3, in Horringer from 5pm

Friday, May 3, outside West Suffolk Hospital from 6pm

Saturday, May 4, in Needham Market

Tuesday, May 7, outside Bury St Edmunds railway station

Wednesday, May 8, in Bury town centre from noon

"We will also flagging the European elections and drawing attention to the fact people need to register before May 7. All of the local indications are the people's vote is increasing in support from remain and leave voters."
