TENANCIES in St Edmundsbury have been rescued following the liquidation of a charity that helped vulnerable people with housing needs.

According to joint liquidators Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP, charity Housing Action went into voluntary liquidation following difficulties in its trading, resulting from a loss of expected grants and delays in the payment of rents which had led to cash flow problems.

A spokeswoman for St Edmundsbury Borough Council said: “We are very pleased to have been working with Suffolk Housing Society to minimise the impact of this problem on tenants from our housing needs register. The landlords in St Edmundsbury affected by Housing Action’s difficulties have been offered a rescue package by Suffolk Housing Society and all the tenancies in question have been continued.”
