Plans to convert a Bury St Edmunds hotel into five houses with car parking have been submitted to the borough council.

Applicant Hugh Wagstaff wants to alter, extend and partly demolish the Regency House Hotel in Looms lane to create a one-bedroom, four-bedroom and three three-bedroom units.

A design and access statement says the proposal is seeking to return the building to its original residential use because it was no longer considered viable as a hotel meeting modern requirements.
