FIRE crews and a vet worked for more than hour to rescue a horse that had got stuck in a water-logged ditch at a farm near Bury St Edmunds on Monday.

A fire engine from Ixworth as well as an all-terrain vehicle and a water rescue van from Bury were called to the farm in High Street, Market Weston, at around 9.40am.

The horse, which was stuck in 2ftt of water, was hoisted out using animal strops and had all of its feet firmly on the ground by 11.12am.
