Visitors to Bury St Edmunds will be welcomed with some fresh new signs with a message from you.
Readers of the Bury Free Press are invited to send in their choice of welcome message to be placed on 11 new signs which are being put up at entrances to the town.
Bury in Bloom has obtained funding of £12,000 with help from St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, Bid4Bury and Bury Town Council.
Signs have been produced by Coastline Graphics and a chosen selection will be placed on each entry after judging by a panel made up of those who have funded the scheme and the Bury Free Press.
The messages can be up to 30 characters long, including spaces and can be relevent to the particular entry to the town or contain a quirky message.
The signs will be placed on entry to the town at Westley Road, Horringer Road, Sicklesmere Road, Mount Road, Barton Road,Fornham Road Mildenhall Road and Thetford Road with one at each of the three A14 slip roads as well.
Melanie Lesser, Bury in Bloom co-ordinator, said: “The town signs have been in need of replacement for some time.
“I am delighted that these funding bodies have joined together to provide the money to install the signage.
“The group would like the town residents to be part of the process of providing the wording on the signs which will help promote our lovely town.”
