HEALTH experts were on the streets of Thetford this week educating residents on a lethal habit.

Thetford Healthy Town (THT) was joined in King Street by the Oral Health Team from Suffolk Community Healthcare in aid of Mouth Cancer Action Month and to warn of the dangers of smoking.

With cases of mouth cancer doubling in the UK in the last decade, Carol Doherty, project manager for THT, said it was time for people to take the risks seriously.

“We try and get out to as many places in Thetford as possible to engage with the community.

“It’s coming up to the New Year, when resolutions get made, but getting smokers to quit can be hard because it’s a habit,” she said.
