Greater Anglia train disruption: Bus replacement service between Bury St Edmunds and Peterborough
Train operator Greater Anglia has set up a bus replacement service between Bury St Edmunds and Peterborough today as disruption on the line continues.
Train services between Ipswich and Peterborough via Ely have been suspended due to major signalling problems.
It has also affected services between Norwich and Sheringham.
The Ipswich to Peterborough service is suspended until further notice due to a shortage of trains as a result of the signalling fault.
A notice to customers on the Greater Anglia website said: "We are trying to resolve these issues as quickly as possible so that we can reinstate the normal train service.
"In the meantime, a rail replacement service is in operation.
"From Wednesday 18th December 2019, this will include several buses that will convey passengers directly between Bury St Edmunds and Peterborough, in both directions, to speed up the journey and help people meet connections for onward journeys.
"Other buses will call at intermediate stations."
It added: "Customers are advised to travel to Norwich and travel on a train to Ely where their tickets will be accepted on East Midlands Railways services to Peterborough.
"Customers can also travel on Ipswich to Cambridge services and then change at Cambridge for a Great Northern service to Ely and change at Ely for an East Midlands service to Peterborough.
"There are coaches and minibuses operated by Blue Fox and St Edmunds Travel running between Ely-Peterborough, serving Manea, March and Whittlesea."
