Pupils from Great Heath Primary School in Mildenhall got a really wild surprise last week at Wickham fen - meeting TV wildlife presenter Chris Packham.

Two classes from year five visited the National Trust nature reserve on Thursday May 21 taking part in den building, pond dipping and wild art classes.

Ryan Clay, Year Five’s teacher, said: “The trip was a great opportunity to do some stuff outdoors with them - we do a lot of school trips there.

“It was at the end of day and Chris was filming for Spring watch and Look East. “We went over to take a look and asked of we could take a picture with him.

“He was very nice and posed for the photo with the children. “Then he spoke to the kids and told them all about Cuckoos.”
