Grandparents share pupils’ day at school

A special day dedicated to gradparents was enjoyed by young children at South Lee School on Monday.

Grandparents were inviuted to join the Early Years and P{re-Prep departments to share lunch and some stay and play time.

Activities ranged across the board including making mud pies outside and enjoying a read.

The event was held to mark Grandparents Day UK which was celebrated on Sunday.

Some 32 grannies and grandads joined theiur grandchildren for lunch and shared chicken Rogan Josh curry, rice, naan bread and mango chutney followed by yoghurt fruit corner or a fruit platter.

The weather proved perfectand grandparents stayed and played in the playground or in the Forest School woodland area.

Head of Pre-Prep Sarah-Jane Catchpole said: “It was a delight to see so many grandparents joining in with the fun and games. A super event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
