A VILLAGE has celebrated the 10th birthday of a hall refurbishment with two key players reuniting for the event.
Former hostage Terry Waite, who lives in the village, re-opened the hall 10 years ago after it was refurbished and went along to the recent anniversary celebrations 10 years on.
Also sharing the celebration was Grace King, who was pictured with Mr Waite at the original event aged three months.
The Boxted and Hartest Institute was built in 1888 and endowed to the village by the Wellar-Poley family to improve the education of the men. It was originally a place where they could go to read newspapers.
At the celebration afternoon, Grace cut a specially made birthday cake and the art and gardening clubs, which use the hall, put on displays.
There was also a display showing the hall before and after the improvements were done.
Tea and cakes were provided and the event was well attended by villagers.
