THE MANAGER of a boutique charity shop in Bury St Edmunds is preparing to take part in the Great Eastern Run on Sunday.

The event, being held in Peterborough, will be the first half marathon for Dru Broad, manager of Workwise’s Cavern 4, in Whiting Street.

The 33-year-old, who is nervous about the challenge, said: “I’ve chosen to run and raise funds for Workwise as I believe the work they do is a crucial community service for supporting vulnerable adults and disadvantaged groups into employment.”

To celebrate 25 years of helping people with mental health issues, on Monday Workwise will host an open showcase event at its sites in Hospital Road, Chamberlayne Road and Whiting Street.

All are welcome but the charity is appealing for skilled volunteers to help prepare its trainees for vocational training.
