Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre will be bringing some cheer to local children and adults having a difficult time this Christmas.
Staff this week launched their Giving Tree Appeal to collect Christmas gifts which will be distributed to West Suffolk Hospital children’s ward, St Nicholas Hospice Care and children staying in local residential care this season.
A Christmas tree has been put up at the centre and visitors are invited to take a tag indicating what age range to buy for.
Clare Maller, acting centre manager, said: “Many people very thoughtfully give to charities at this time of year but it is often those who are spending time in hospital, very ill or who are in care who get forgotten.
“We hope people will support our staff by adding one extra gift to their shopping list to help someone who is going through a tough time this Christmas.”
Gifts need to be returned by Wednesday December 17 ready for Santa’s helpers to make their delivery.
