A LANDSCAPE gardener from Walsham-le-Willows is set to star on BBC’s DIY SOS.

Mia Witham, a part-time lecturer at Otley College, was approached by the team to create a sensory garden in the South East.

The mother-of-one took part in filming for the TV programme over a 10-day period in her own time.

Swedish born Mia moved to Britain in 1998, settling in Suffolk in 2001.

She said: “We were only given a tiny budget to work with, so this project was a true challenge.

“I can’t say too much about what happened because the programme is yet to air, however, the experience was amazing and the presenters and crew were incredibly friendly and put me at ease.

“It felt like a real team effort and I learnt a great deal. I have already held a class with my students about my experiences and I’m really looking forward to seeing the show later in the year.”

DIY SOS, hosted by Nick Knowles, helps to transform the homes of families in Britain. The episode with Mia will be broadcast in the autumn.
