Game of Thrones star Kit Harington plans overhaul of rural Tudor retreat
Game of Thrones star Kit Harington and his wife Rose are planning a series of improvements to their rural home in Brettenham, Suffolk.
The actor, who played the character Jon Snow and met his wife Rose Leslie – who played Ygritte – while filming season two of the hit television series, bought the Grade II-listed property Popples Farmhouse last year.
A design and access statement submitted to Babergh District Council on behalf of the couple said: "Since their purchase at the end of last year the new owners, Mr and Mrs Harington, have been undertaking internal redecoration and minor repairs as a first phase project."
It adds that as a result of a building condition report undertaken this year, Kit and Rose now wish to undertake two key areas of work.
They have applied to install a new heating system and to carry out repairs to address unauthorised works carried out by the Tudor property's previous owners.
According to the statement, the existing boiler is not fit for purpose and is against current regulations, which is a concern given the property's listed status and thatched roof.
Popples is on an 8.2-acre plot and includes the main farmhouse, a moat, farm buildings, a swimming pool, tennis court, kitchen garden, orchard and paddocks.
