The Friends of Ixworth Free School have received £500 from Suffolk County Cllr Joanna Spicer’s locality budget towards books for the school’s library.
Presenting her donation at the school, Cllr Spicer said: “I have been a great supporter of Ixworth Free School and I am delighted to see it working so well in the community.
“It was a pleasure to meet some of the students involved with the library project and I hope other local companies and individuals will consider supporting this work. While they can have the most modern technology in the classroom, it is still very important for young people to be able to sit down and read a book.”
Lisa Doyle, chairman of the Ixworth Friends Group, added: “This is a very generous grant from Joanna and our students really valued her spending time at the school.
“They were able to tell her about their plans for the library and they also found out just what was involved in being a county councillor.”
