Four men have been reported for summons to court to answer charges of trespassing with intent to pursue game.

Police arrested four men yesterday following a report that a group of men were hare coursing in a field between the A143 and the road to Barningham.

A 19-year-old man from Gravesend, Kent, a 20-year-old man and a 53-year-old man from Sittingbourne, Kent, and an 18-year-old man from Reigate, Surrey, have been reported and a file will be prepared for prosecution.

Suffolk Police are currently involved in Operation Galileo, which sees officers targeting groups who use the county’s farmlands for hare coursing.

Residents in rural areas are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

Specific information such as any vehicle registration, make, model and colour is particularly valuable to officers when attending reports of these types of offences.

Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity is advised not to approach but to contact police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
