Police have arrested four men on suspicion of trespassing with intent to pursue game.

A report was received by Suffolk police at around 8.40am this morning that a group of men were hare coursing in a field between the A134 and the road to Barningham.

Police stopped a vehicle nearby and arrested a 19-year-old man from Gravesend, Kent, a 20-year-old man and a 53-year-old man from Sittingbourne, Kent, and an 18-year-old man from Reigate, Surrey.

Suffolk Police are currently involved in Operation Galileo targeting groups who use the county’s farmlands for hare coursing.

Residents in rural areas are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

Information such as any vehicle registration, make, model and colour is particularly valuable to officers when attending reports of these types of offences.

Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity is advised not to approach but to contact police on 101, or call 999 in an emergency.
